Page 99 University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016 ADVANCEMENT DIVISION Mr. Hector Wheeler Associate Vice President The Advancement Division strengthens the public image of the University; maintains vibrant and effective communication with the University’s publics, and builds harmonious relations with stakeholders to facilitate successful engagement of support for the University through resource mobilization and activities by various offices or groups. The Division is structured under the Office of President. The Division supported a number of University- wide events and initiatives to facilitate institutional strengthening by establishing and maintaining linkages, with Government, stakeholders, industries, local, regional and international institutions and organizations. These included signing of Memoranda of Understanding, other institutional agreements and official visits to the campus by local and international bodies/institutions. Resource Mobilization The Division received $4.26M from cash and in kind donations from various initiatives supported by the Division throughout the year. These include sponsorship of events from public and private sector partners CORPORATE COMUNICATIONS UTech, Jamaica Mobile App A major highlight of the period was the development of the UTech, Jamaica Mobile App in December 2015. The app was developed by the Corporate Communications Unit in collaboration with expertise from the UTech Sapna Group out of the School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT). Campus Newsletter The online campus newsletter, The UTech, Jamaica Communicator , continued to be a major source of news on the events and achievements at the University. The newsletter was made available via the University’s Website, Students’ Portal, social media pages and dispatched to Alumni, University Council, institutional partners and other key stakeholders. • Corporate Communications Unit • Marketing Unit • Alumni Relations • Centre for the Arts
