Marketing Unit Marketing Communications Campaign An advertising communication campaign was embarked upon during November 2015 to Jan 2016. The campaign was developed in collaboration with OGM Integrated Communications and comprised of Print, Television, Radio & Cinema Ads (Carib). Several advertising collateral materials were produced for the campaign including outdoor, print, television & on-line. Total reach for the campaign is estimated to be Thirteen Million, Five Hundred and Forty Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty Eight (13,540,648). The campaign used UTech stars, prominent alumni and staff to promote the UTech, Jamaica brand, including Patrick Hylton, Kenny Benjamin, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Dr. Tonoya Toloy, Elaine Thompson, Chef Theo Smith & Major Anthony Anderson. Denbigh Agricultural Show Over three thousand, four hundred (3,400) persons visited the UTech, Jamaica tent including several leaders in government, the public service and education. Highlights of the presentation were featured extensively in the Jamaica Observer (August 18, 2015). Some of the key exhibits were the Rocket Stove (SHTM), Medical Marijuana (COHS) and solar technologies and breadfruit roaster (FENC). Advertising A total of 319 print Advertisements were booked for the period of which 109 were designed in the Marketing Dept. Electronic advertisements booked includes 6 Outside Radio Broadcasts and 701 30-second radio spots. Social Media There was increased contact on all Social Media platforms over the last year: Facebook – 35% (up from 9,770 to 13,219), Twitter – 12% (up from 3,904 to 4,362) and Instagram – 50% (up from 1,688 to 2,563). Internal Marketing Mini Sports Day The Marketing Unit sponsored the inaugural Mini Sports Day organized by the Staff Entertainment and Sports Committee. The event was well supported by a Deanroy Edwards (left), one of the creators of Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO), shows off his innovation to Prof. Colin Gyles, Acting President, UTech (centre) and Mr. Ivor Bennett, Director of Marketing, UTech. MIMO was created by Faculty of Engineering and Computing (FENC) students Deanroy Edwards and Orane Buckeridge. The device was designed to monitor temperature, lighting, water and feed on small scale chicken farms. Mr. Ashley (1 st left), Administrative Support, Faculty of Law sprints towards the finish line ahead of Mr. Horatio Williams (centre) from the Calvin McKain Library and Mr. Garney Grant (right) from the Human Resource Department to win the male 70m sprint race at the inaugural SEAS Mini-Sports Day Competition held on December 22, 2016.
