Page 68 University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016 FACULTY OF LAW The Faculty completed the Self Study and Application for the programme accreditation and submitted them to the Office of Curriculum Development and Evaluation (OCDE) for final review and subsequent submission to the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ). Norman Manley Law School (NMLS) The Faculty has sustained its efforts to have students of the Faculty automatically accepted at the NMLS. The Faculty continues to explore all means of advocacy at its disposal in order to achieve its objective, including raising public awareness by keeping the issue alive in the media, and soliciting the support of political and legal luminaries. Impact Justice A survey conducted in March 2016 by IMPACT Justice, a project funded by the Government of Canada under a Contribution Agreement with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus elicited the views and experiences of students and lecturers on legal education in the CARICOM region. The survey was intended to inform the deliberations of the Legal Affairs Committee of CARICOM in relation to the Mr. Alfred McPherson Dean Mr. Alfred McPherson, Dean, Faculty of Law sharing his perspective on “Deciphering Decriminalization,” at the University’s Medical Marijuana Day held on May 14, 2015 at the Papine campus.
