The group handed over a generous donation of clothing to the home in March 2017. y y Montego Bay Community Home for Girls: A donation of $100,000 was made to the home by the SOBA Seminar group of 2016/2017. y y Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf, St. James: A donation of $200,000.00 was made to the school to help offset operational expenses. The SOBA Seminar Group of 2016/2017 also contributed to this donation. Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (WCJF): In March 2017, a team from the Western Campus visited the WCJF. Non-perishable items, baby toiletries, toys, books, clothes were among some of the items donated to the facility. The WCJF runs an Adolescent Mothers Programme which provides classroom instruction and support for mothers 16 years of age and under in a bid to return the students to the formal school system with the aim of delaying the birth of a second child. COBAM On Monday, October 24, 2016, the first batch of tablets under the U-Touch II project was handed over to the Lister Mair/Gilby High School for the Deaf. FLOW Jamaica provides the school with wireless internet service. A baseline study is to be conducted, evaluating the impact of the UTouch software on the students. Another, on the impact on teaching, access to ICT infrastructure and obstacles to the use of ICT in teaching will also be undertaken. This study will be in done in collaboration with Dr. Cynthia Onyefulu – Vice Dean, Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies (FELS). y y The Economics Division in the School of Business Administration hosted an annual Economics High School Workshop, November 1-2, 2016. The Workshop reinforced Microeconomics and Macroeconomics concepts aimed at improving the student’s analytical skills, performance and confidence on their class assessments, CXC and CAPE examinations for 2017. College of Oral Health Sciences Over 100 health fairs and outreach activities were conducted during the period under review.
