Mr Winston Piper, Mr Michael Edwards and Ms Camille Jackson facilitated the training. y y The Culinary team, led by Mr Khalil Campbell and Chef Simone Walker-Barrett, participated in the Simply Red culinary event held annually by the Heart Foundation of Jamaica. y y More than 100 students from the Professional Development class were hosted for lunch and interview sessions with partners from the hospitality and tourism industry. This was held at the Knutsford Court Hotel on Monday, April 11, 2016. Mrs Jacinth Hall Tracey, Managing Director of LASCO Financial Services was the keynote speaker at this event. y y Thirty-two (32) students participated in the Best Dressed Chicken’s ‘Moment’ at Le Diner en Blanc –Mona, Kingston on April 16, 2016. This is an annual white glove picnic-like event held under the stars at a selected location. Chef Simone Walker-Barrett and Ms Camara Richards organised the group’s involvement. y y Chefs Simone Walker-Barrett and Khalil Campbell represented the School in the annual ‘Chefs on Show’ event at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on April 27, 2016. y y Mr Ceretsie Campbell, lecturer, SHTM and his team members, Mr Markland Jefferson, student from the Faculty of the Built Environment and Miss Danoy Robotham, student from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) won first place in the University of Technology, Jamaica, Business Model Competition held on Friday, February 24, 2017. The team presented the innovative sustainable food cart which allows for the preparation of food in a sanitary and convenient setting. The team also received the category prize for “Best Utilisation of the Business Model Canvas.” They went on to compete at the national Business Model Competiton held March 23 -24, 2017. y y SHTM lecturer, Mr Ceretsie Campbell for winning the Environmental Sustainability Category with his innovative Rocket Stove / Grill at the National Innovations Award ceremony held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Mr Campbell’s Rocket Stove / Grill was among 90 entries and tied for first place. This innovation is the basis of his Ph.D investigation into the use of biomass for cooking fuel as a sustainable solution for the environment. COBAM Honour Society Launched COBAM Honour Society was launched during the College’s Celebration of Excellence.
