Additionally, the College is also the Government Dental Examination Centre – The Dental Council Examinations are conducted at the College. Certification/Accreditation The College received a Certificate of recognition from the Dental Council of Jamaica in relation to the Dental Courses of Study that are being offered at the institution. Infrastructural Development and Facilities upgrading During the period under review the College expanded Wi-Fi Service on the Campus. It also developed an Oral Cancer Screening programme Local and International Linkages and Collaborations: Visiting Professors/Leaders in the Field of Dentistry The College continued to benefit from the voluntary services of Visiting Professors, International Visitors and Adjunct Faculty. Lectures, demonstrations and clinical sessions were conducted at various times throughout the year by experts in several fields, including Endodontics, Orthodontics, Laser dentistry, Aesthetics dentistry, Implantology. NATIONAL HONOUR Dr Irving McKenzie who was awarded the Badge of Honour for Meritorious Service – BH (M), October 2016. Conference and Lecture y y The College hosted the 5 th International Conference of the Rosalie Warpeha - Caribbean Institute for Strategic Planning and Research in Oral Health held October 20-22, 2016 at the Knutstford Court Hotel. The theme of the conference was “Digital Dentistry and Aesthetics in the 21 st Century”. y y The College hosted a Public Lecture on “Oral Health and Diabetes – proposition against sugar” presented by Professor Robert Fulton February 23, 2017 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. White Coat Ceremony y y The College of Oral Health Sciences hosted its 5 th White Coat Ceremony on November 5, 2016 for the Doctor of Medical Dentistry Year 3 students as well as the Dental Hygiene Year 2 students indicating transition from pre-clinical Dr. Irving McKenzie, Dean, College of Oral Health Sciences, University of Technology, Jamaica explains the functionalities of the Sirona Simulation Unit in the College’s Simulation Dental Laboratory where dental students are introduced to dental procedures prior to working on real patients. President Vasciannie’ visit ed the College at Arthur Wint Drive, Kingston 5 on Friday, January 20, 2017 as part of a series of onboarding activities .
