University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017 Page 70 Excellence Through Knowledge y y Donald Mirander an Apparel Design Production and Management (ADPM) student, designed and made the dress which Mrs Juliet Holness, MP wore to the opening of Parliament on 14 April 2016. y y Fourteen students in the Apparel Design Production and Management (ADPM) programme executed their fashion show on 11 June 2016, to complete the module Professional Presentation 2. y y Five students participated in the Festival of Learning facilitated by the Jamaica Council for Adult Education (JACAE) on 12 October 2016 at The Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. y y Thirteen students in Industrial Technology attended the Annual Incorporated Master- builders Association of Jamaica (IMAJ) Conference at the Jamaica Conference Centre on 2 November 2016. This conference provided an excellent opportunity for students to gain knowledge on current trends in the construction industry, and interface with a wide array of local and construction stakeholders and policy makers. y y Final year students in Communication Studio CAT 4002 visited the set of TVJ’s All Angles on 21 September and Smile Jamaica on 22 September 2016. The visit permitted students to observe these live broadcasts from behind the scenes and interact with practitioners. y y Chrystal Taylor, Final Year Student in the BA Communication Arts and Technology has been selected to receive a Press Association of Jamaica/Digicel Education Grant. The Grant was announced during the PAJ’s Journalism Week in November 2016. Students from UWI, NC and UTech, Jamaica were invited to apply. Faculty of Education & Liberal Studies cont’d.
