The SoE assembled 400 Ready Boards, through the efforts of Dr Andrew Isaacs and a group of Electrical Engineering students. The project had a value of Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($600,000). These ready boards will be used in households that are not eligible to receive certification from the Government Electrical Inspectorate (GEI) because of the structure. A stack of Ready Boards ready for delivery PetroCaribe Energy Awareness and Conservation Project The School of Engineering was successful in its consultancy bid to the PetroCaribe Development Fund, spearheaded by Associate Professor Noel Brown, to provide the training component of the Energy Awareness and Conservation pilot project to staff and students at the Glenmuir High School. The three-month contract was officially signed in February 2017. ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURES – SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING West Indies Aluminium Company (WINDALCO) The School through the Chemical Engineering Programme, signed a Heads of Agreement with the West Indies Aluminium Company to offer a Refresher Training Course for some of their employees. This two day training was held December 14-15, 2016 and was budgeted at US Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars (US$2,500.00). Rental of Laboratories The School has rented laboratory spaces to the University of the West Indies (Unit Operations Lab); Knox Community College and the Montego Bay Community College (Engineering Science Lab) for the conducting of experiments throughout the academic year. This has amounted to over Three Hundred Thousand Dollars (J$300,000.00) in income for the School in the past year. Faculty of Engineering and Computing cont’d.
