University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017 Page 78 Excellence Through Knowledge A team from the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) visited the University of Technology, Ja. to conduct the accreditation review of the Bachelor of Laws Course of Study on February 7 and 8, 2017 at the Papine Campus and on February 20, 2017 at the Western Campus. The Evaluation Team members were Prof. Claudette Williams, Chair, Honourable Mr Justice Roy Anderson and Her Honour Mrs. Jennes Anderson along with Dr. Jessica Dunn, UCJ Accreditation Officer. LINKAGES AND COLLOBORATIONS Medical Marijuana Integration Day Mr Alfred McPherson, Dean, participated in Medical Marijuana Integration Day hosted by the College of Health Science on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Mr McPherson spoke on the topic ““Legal Perspective of Cannabis – A Critique”. The presentation was published in the Sunday Gleaner of June 5, 2016 under the caption “Don’t Allow Ganja Abuse”. Impact Justice The Dean accepted an invitation to become a member of Impact Justice, a programme out of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus. Since joining, Mr McPherson has been instrumental in soliciting and receiving a donation of 81 Law books worth over £6,000, from Impact Justice. These books are now housed in the Calvin McKain Library. Faculty of Law, UWI – Lecture Series Students from the Faculty of Law, at the invitation of Prof. Stephen Vasciannie, attended a lecture at the Faculty of Law, UWI, Mona Campus, on October 10, 2016. The lecture was delivered by Judge Patrick Robinson of the International Court of Justice. Approximately 30 UTech FOL students attended. ORGANIZATIONAL WELL-BEING Norman Manley Law School (NMLS) In August 2016, Prof. Kent Pantry drafted and presented a letter to senior executives soliciting Mr Alfred McPherson Dean Faculty of Law
