University of Technology, Jamaica “Pioneering Past; Bright Future ” ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 59 Product Journey” was that “just one revolutionary idea can change the world.” RTID was aligned to the 60th Anniversary and the annual RTID publication was “Pioneering Past; Bright Future: Six Decades of Impactful Research and Scholarly Achievements”, which featured selected high-impact research and innovation which had been undertaken at the University. Colleges and faculties mounted exhibitions demonstrating selected examples of the research and innovation work being done across the University. The Speakers’ Forum ran three concurrent streams. The University is committed to high standards of research integrity. Researchers in the University are therefore required to demonstrate integrity, honesty and professionalism in the conduct of their research. To build their capacity, members of the University’s Ethics Committee successfully completed training, and received their certificates, under the Caribbean Research Ethics Education Initiative, offered by the University of Miami, USA, and St. George’s University, Grenada. In addition, the Chair of the University Research Ethics Committee, Mr Balford Lewis, is a member of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) Research Ethics Committee. Staff Publishing Staff publication output for the period 2007-2017 is shown in the figures on the next page: National ST&I Engagements Inventory of ST&I Initiatives: The SGSRE compiled by request and submitted to the Planning Institute of Jamaica, an inventory of science, technology and innovation initiatives undertaken at the University during 2017. This is an annual request made by the PIOJ to facilitate its compilation of the Science & Technology Chapter of Social and Economic Survey of Jamaica, 2017. National Research and Development Indicators Pilot Survey: UTech, Jamaica participated in a Pilot Survey that was undertaken by the National Commission on Science & Technology (NCST) to determine personnel and expenditure on research and development in Jamaica.
