University of Technology, Jamaica “Pioneering Past; Bright Future ” ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 60 SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES, RESEARCH AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP Cont’d. Journal of Arts Science And Technology Volume 10 of the Journal of Arts Science and Technology was published in November 2017 both in print and online on EBSCOhost and the University website. The Journal moved from one to two issues per year in 2018 with Volume 11 Number 1 being released in March and Volume 11 Number 2 being scheduled for a November 2018 publication date. The Journal expanded its list of International Editorial Advisory Board members from 14 to 19. A thematic Special Issue was commissioned and published consisting of the papers presented at the Scientific Symposium on “Fiscal Measures to Prevent Obesity/NCDs in Jamaica: Focus on Sugar-Sweetened Beverages” which was hosted by the University on January 11, 2018. Entrepreneurship and Project Management The Project Management Desk of the School managed 18 projects at various stages from expressions of interest to the oversight of contracted projects. There were 10 active consultancies. A number of the consultancy projects were of high public policy significance, either domestically or regionally. These included continued work on the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) consultancy for the “Development of a Caribbean Regional Procurement Training Centre”, two CARICOM consultancies for creating Regional Strategic Plans for (1) ICT Services and (2) Sport Services in CARIFORUM States” , a GOJ/MICAF consultancy to “ Train and Write Business Plans for Certified Residents of Sugar-Dependent Areas for Operating Small Businesses” , and a consultancy to “ Provide and Economic Impact Study for the Norman Manley International Airport .” New European Union-Funded Project UTech, Jamaica is a partner on the “CITYLAB CAR: Engaging Students in Sustainable Caribbean Cities” project funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme in the amount of €696,644. UTech’s implementation Unit for the project is the Faculty of the Built Environment, spearheaded by Dr. Carol Archer.
