The vision for an expanded solar plant for UTech Ja. remains and it is anticipated could be realized in the medium term. Other steps have been taken by the Institute through: 1) Commercial Scale Energy Audit – UTech, Ja. Papine Campus The University with support from the CDB/ CARICOM Energy Desk is to undertake an investment level energy audit at the Papine Campus. The official launch of the Building Energy Efficiency Programme (BEEP) was held on December 4, 2017, in Guyana. This audit will identify opportunities for multiple benefits of energy efficiency in buildings. A submission has been made to undertake the audit for buildings within Zone 1. 2) An Expression of Interest has been prepared for a plant of up to One megawatt solar This will be advertised once the appropriate documentation has been finalized. 3) Energy Monitoring and Auditing Team (EMAT) Energy Monitoring and Auditing Team (EMAT) is a student-oriented energy audit, efficiency conservation and monitoring programme. One of the objectives of the programme is to create cost-saving solutions in energy at the University. It is operated under the Community Service Programme. National Water Commission (NWC) Concessionary Sewage Rate Negotiations were held with the National Water Commission for, a discount of 50% on sewage charges commencing February 2018 for a period of five years, and the University indicated its commitment to undertake to:- a) Conduct a thorough non-revenue water audit on campus; b) Develop a Non-Revenue Water Reduction Strategy which shall be reviewed by NWC; c) Re-invest in water conservation initiatives, savings from the sewage rate discount, which are not limited to water savings devices; d) Notify the NWC of any changes that may result in increased consumption subsequent to the established consumption at the date of the agreement. An Agreement to consolidate the joint understanding has been prepared. Consultancy Services Stabilizing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Road Transport through Doubling of Global Vehicle Fuel Economy Regional Implementation of the Global Fuel Economy Initiative (GFEI) The United Nations Environment has implemented a Sustainable Low Emissions Transport project to support countries, particularly developing ones and economies in transition. The Institute was selected by the then Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change (MWLECC), as the implementing agency for the GFEI Jamaica project, on behalf of the Government of Jamaica. The SSFA was subsequently signed between UNEP and UTech, Ja. for the execution of the project, April 22, 2015. The project now falls under the Environment and Risk Management Division, Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. The objective of the
