K’nife – Lecturer – Mona School of Business and Management, UWI, Dennis Chung, Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica and Daniel Chacko-Wilmot – Law Lecturer – School of Business Administration. • The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) participated in the 2017 staging of the Jamaica Food Observer Awards Ceremony held at Devon House on May 25, 2017. Fifty students from the School worked as volunteers the special event. • The University of Technology, Jamaica hosted Hypro World Egg Day in the SHTM Courtyard on Friday, October 3, 2017. This event was facilitated by Executive Chef –lecturer Simone Walker Barrett, Camara Richards and students. • The College hosted an Economic Summit on, March 21, 2018, under the theme: “Caribbean Economic Integration” held as part of the College’s Celebration of Excellence 2018 which had as its theme: “Encouraging Regional Economic Integration for National Growth and Development. Caribbean Case Writers Association • The Caribbean Case Researchers Association (CCRA) has attained affiliation with the North American Case Research Association (NACRA). A proposal for affiliation with NACRA was first presented to its Board in 2016. Professor Paul Golding presented the amended proposal to the Board at NACRA’s Annual Conference at the Sheraton Chicago O’Hare on October 19, 2017. The proposal for affiliation was accepted by the Board. • The following lecturers presented their start-up cases at the 2017 North American Case Research Association (NACRA) Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL between October 19-21, 2017 : • Rosalee Sawyers: Island Grill revisits International Expansion • Beienetch Watson: Finding the Sting: A case of Jamaica’s Greatest Reggae Festival • Nicole Hay-Walters: Fixing the clogs at Cloggy’s on the Beach: Now or Never Global Entrepreneurship Monitor The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Jamaica 2018 Report was launched and presented at a special ceremony held on September 14, 2017 at the Papine Campus. Research for the publication was undertaken by a team from the College of Business and Management. GEM data tracks the entrepreneurial attitudes, activities and motivation of entrepreneurs in Ambassador Malgorzata Wasilewska, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Jamaica and Professor Paul Golding, Dean, College of Business and Management in conversation at the Caribbean Economic Integration Summit hosted by the College on March 21, 2018, Papine Campus.
